FIELD: chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing chemical substances used in rebreathers on chemically bound oxygen, and can be used in production of products for regeneration of air based on potassium superoxide. Regenerative product for rebreathers includes potassium superoxide and magnesium silicate, obtained from chrysotile asbestos, with ratio of components in the composition of the regenerative product, wt%: chamber potassium superoxide KO2 90–95; magnesium silicate MgSiO3 5–10. Method of producing a regenerative product for rebreathers involves mixing potassium superoxide with magnesium silicate, followed by molding a mixture, wherein magnesium silicate is obtained from chrysotile asbestos by exposure to temperature of 800±20 °C for 2-3 hours with subsequent grinding in a drum mill. After molding, the regenerative product can be thermally stabilized according to: heating to 200±20 °C at rate of 1–5 °C/min; exposure at 200±20 °C for 1–2 hours. Regenerative product of the presented composition provides, during operation in the composition of the rebreather, a low average and maximum volume fraction of carbon dioxide on inhalation, a low temperature of the regenerated air on inhalation and a longer time of protective action.
