Phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), the gold-standard diagnostic that indicates whether an antimicrobial will be clinically effective, often suffer the slowest times-to-result for the most resistant pathogens. Here we introduce novel assays to be performed in parallel with standard AST assays that enable rapid, same-shift reporting of AST results for a plurality of pathogens. The assays developed here are further capable of detecting resistance to carbapenems, the most powerful class of beta-lactams commonly used as "last-resort" antimicrobials.

Les tests phénotypiques de sensibilité aux antimicrobiens (AST), diagnostic de référence indiquant si un antimicrobien sera cliniquement efficace, enregistrent souvent les plus longs délais d'obtention de résultats s'agissant des agents pathogènes les plus résistants. Selon l'invention, nous introduisons de nouveaux dosages à réaliser en parallèle avec des dosages d'AST standards, qui permettent un rapport rapide, sur un même quart de jour, des résultats d'AST pour une pluralité d'agents pathogènes. Les dosages développés selon l'invention sont en outre aptes à détecter une résistance aux carbapénèmes, la classe la plus puissante de bêta-lactames communément utilisés comme antimicrobiens de « dernier recours ».
