There is provided apparatuses to detect occurrence and location of damages on optical fiber links in advance by converting an optical span in optical network to an interferometry based sensing media. The interferometry based sensing media may enable detection of mechanical perturbation or mechanical vibration occurred on optical fiber links across optical network. The system employed with the interferometry based sensing media can detect occurrence of mechanical perturbation or mechanical vibration as well as discover the location of such event occurred using standard interferometry based sensing techniques.

La présente invention concerne des appareils permettant de détecter à l'avance l'occurrence et l'emplacement de dommages sur des liaisons de fibres optiques par conversion d'une portée optique d'un réseau optique en un support de détection basée sur l'interférométrie. Le support de détection basée sur l'interférométrie peut permettre la détection d'une perturbation mécanique ou d'une vibration mécanique s'étant produite sur des liaisons de fibres optiques au travers d'un réseau optique. Le système utilisé avec le support de détection à base d'interférométrie peut détecter l'apparition d'une perturbation mécanique ou d'une vibration mécanique et peut également découvrir l'emplacement où un tel événement s'est produit grâce à des techniques de détection basées sur l'interférométrie standard.
