An adaptive action recognizer for video that performs multiscale spatiotemporal decomposition of video to generate lower complexity video. The adaptive action recognizer has a number of processing pathways, one for each level of video complexity with each processing pathway having a different computational cost. The adaptive action recognizer applies a decision making scheme that encourages using low average computational costs while retaining high accuracy.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de reconnaissance d'action adaptatif pour une vidéo qui effectue une décomposition spatio-temporelle multi-échelle d'une vidéo pour générer une vidéo de complexité inférieure. Le dispositif de reconnaissance d'action adaptatif comporte un certain nombre de voies de traitement, une pour chaque niveau de complexité de vidéo, chaque voie de traitement ayant un coût de calcul différent. Le dispositif de reconnaissance d'action adaptatif applique un programme de prise de décision qui encourage l'utilisation de faibles coûts de calcul moyens tout en conservant une grande précision.
